Ideally, I want this space to be a functional and beautiful room, but right now all I can see is a large W/D and empty walls!! Please help!

• The plan is to move the cabinets to the back wall above the W/D. The wall is 68 inches and the cabinets are each 27 inches wide, or 54 together. Do I center them and leave 7 inches on either side or separate them with 14 inches in the center? There will be supports behind them to make it easier to reach, if that makes a difference.
• Same question for the W/D- do I push them together and leave 7.5 inches on either side or put the space between them?
• Due to the dryer hose, there is a 7 inch opening between the wall and W/D. What would you do to 1. Block off that gap and 2. Hide the water spouts? My contractor suggested a basic countertop, but it would only extend over part of the W/D and now I think that would look weird.
• I’ve also considered raising the W/D - pros? Cons?
• What would you do with the wall that the cabinets were on? (I’m moving the hanging rod).

Floors were just replaced and I’m hoping once I decide on the layout, I’ll have a clearer vision of how I want to make it pretty:)
