kitchen lighting: peninsula & island

Hi - we are renovating this kitchen. It will still have an island (a little larger than current) and the peninsula. What should we do for lighting? My husband would like pendants but I’m not sure if that would look right over both the island and the peninsula? Seems like it could be too busy. Would love some advice. Thank you.
