yes, paint it all out the same color... the profile will look interesting when it is all the same color.

The next issue is do you paint it to match the mosaic tile or the super white walls of the room?

I imagine this is why the surround is wood finish so the two colors don't meet.

Placing items that are also heavy in scale will allow the surround to fit in the room.

I would probably paint just the mantle white (satin), same color as the room trim. Then revisit the wall color to warm up the space.. The wall and carpet seem to clash.

Less stuff on the mantel try thay first .

I would paint the whole surround the color of the white trim, and paint the dark parts of the tile, as you have been doing.

Your paint color looks very grey and cool in the photo. Do you want a warm wood and cool grey color scheme or do you have something else in mind?

I would leave the mantle, paint the tile and simplify the mantle and fireplace decor. Too many small things. The mirrors don't reflect anything interesting.

IMO painting the mantle bright white will make it stand out more. The tiles don't look right for a fireplace, more like a kitchen backsplash.

What are you replacing the carpet with?

The mantle is beautiful. The small tiles don’t work with it. Rethink those and see if you can find a better tile to replace them and enhance the mantle.
