Your space looks so warm and inviting! The only change that I would make is to use more lamps. Overhead lighting provides an uncomfortable feel for my eyes and makes furnishings and people not look their best.

Thank you both. I'm now really wanting to do a window treatment. The view is fabulous out to the water but I'd love to be able to. Occasionally I have privacy. I love the look of off-white silk that I have, but they are short. I will try to upload the before from my other post.

Move the curtain rod higher

Very pretty room, although the two armchairs with the little ottoman look a bit awkward. Can they be next to each other and facing the sofa? I would also trip over the rocker, or my husband would.

I agree that the chairs w/ ottoman don’t look usable as-is. Or even angled so that ottoman can be pulled out for use without moving chairs also. But I do understand that one can have seating/ footstool that is not used every day, but occasionally, hence does not have to be in picture- perfect location/ orientation every day. So maybe that is what’s going on over there.

Right. Ottoman and the gray chairs are swivel so they get moved around a lot in their particular spaces. We have a nice view out the front that I like to take advantage of.

Adding before pictures.

So I moved pictures around at a baskets on top of bookshelves, de cluttered the fireplace area, swapped the carpet for more blue tone and bought gray blue swivel chairs oh, and got rid of the grandmother clock.

Not sure what to do with the curtains other than raise them a foot. I do want to be able to close them occasionally.

also the space between the windows and the front door where the clock was and plants are now seems bare.

That floor lamp in the corner only lights up that ceiling: that should go. Put a sizeable lamp on the console in front of the window. I would get those plants off the floor, perhaps one could go on the coffee table with a stack of books next to it. Another could go on the console for height. I would replace the plants with a very large piece of art on that wall next to the door, like almost the height of the window frame. Turn off the overhead lights. Also, would you be open to painting the bookshelves, perhaps the same color as the walls or something light? I would restyle them so they would showcase a pretty piece of pottery or put a framed piece of art standing on one of the shelves and some greenery. I feel they are too dark. Love your rug!

If you love the curtains you have, but think they are a little too short (depending on how short) you could always add a bullion fringe to the bottom and inside edge in a similar color or a pale shade. Your throws and rug have fringe so it wouldn’t be the outlier
