That's a pretty big spot for a super glue (Hot Shot) repair. Notice how the particulates around the repair are less defined than the others; he may have polished it a bit too much. An insert type repair is more inconspicuous, however, on a top that small, it may not be cost effective.

I'd take a discount and live with it.

I’m a perfectionist. With that said, I would get them to replace the whole thing. My eyes would go to that flaw every time I went into the bathroom. That is a shoddy repair. Complain about this and get the countertop you paid for. They should never have put in the countertop with the brown spot in the first place! No amount of discount is going to give you the countertop you wanted.

I'd live with it. I can't see anything in the second photo. Once your regular life chaos displaces the newness of this, you'll stop noticing it except occasionally when cleaning.

Tell them you think a 50% refund is more fair to them than replacement and see what they say.

It's going to depend upon if they've got a remnant lying around or not. If they have to buy a whole sheet to get your replacement, that's going to be awfully expensive. If they do replace it, have them pull the sink forward another inch or more please; plenty of room to do so.

I had a customer with a bright red contaminant in an estone top with particulates like yours. No way did she want it fixed.

I'm trying to give it a chance, but it doesn't look or feel right, and it's smack in the middle of the front where it catches the light. I'm wondering why they didn't make the top with the brown spot toward the rear, where it either would have been cut out for the faucet hole or at least been less noticeable. Blargh.

Exactly….and that’s exactly what you should say to them along with your complaint concerning the shoddy repair. Then demand they replace the countertop or refund the money you spent. You deserve to have a perfect countertop, you don’t need to accept damaged goods.

I agree with tursha22. That repair job would bother me. I would insist on a countertop replacement.
