It all looks grey on my screen.

It all looks dull…and, oh so obviously fake.

The cabinets are actually a brown, and Smithfield quartz is more of a soft white with subtle veins. Here you see the Smithfield with the same “steam” colored cabinets, which seem to change easily with various lighting.

I’ve been reading that you have to be careful when pairing a white quartz with Brittanica because the undertone could be different. I was hoping to find someone who could confirm that these two undertones don’t clash. I’m far from being a designer, so I’m not sure what the wrong undertone would do to the overall appearance.

The slab of Brittanica is not a good representation of the overall appearance. This question is directed towards people who have worked with Brittanica, but thank you darbuka. This is how Brittanica looks. I know it’s not for everyone.

Viewing colors on a computer screen is not a good representation of the color either. Seek local professional advice.

you need to have samples in person and see how they look in your kitchen.

why don't do a soapstone or jet mist on the island (the wood island) and do the brittanica on the perimeter?

do not choose a backsplash until everything else is done. you really don't need more gray.

Oh, I love those! A lot of the current design choices are coming from my husband, and unfortunately we are very limited on our options because we’re building with Toll Brothers. We can’t choose anything we want; we have to choose something they offer. As for the backsplash, I agree with not needing more grey. As of right now, my husband refuses to do white or light grey. If it were up to him, the Brittanica would be going up the wall. Luckily, backsplash is easy to replace - cabinets and countertops are not.

Unless your husband has shown amazing design skills in the past, I would quickly figure out a way to tell him that some things do not look great together. Maybe a couple of hours with a designer making that point for you? You are allowed to bring your own designer to the selection/options showrooms of these large production builders.
