Best AI Program for Custom Build

Desinging and building a custom home and would like to know if there is a free/inexpensive AI program or course that can take our exterior and interior elevations that architect has designed and allow us the ability to change materials (i.e. stucco, stone, siding, colors) etc. I am not very tech savy and have the time to learn and play around with it. My husband is tech savy but does not have the time. Thank you for any recs.

I taught myself SketchUp and found it to be a great, if not complicated tool. Going back and comparing my renders to reality revealed them to be quite accurate.

For interior layouts, we also created some amazing renders using HomeStyler which is free.

Your architect should have someone that does full color renderings of all elevation. Ours cost around $800 a few years ago. Well worth the cost when building a custom home ...

Hi Mary! I was in a similar situation a few months back — we had some basic renderings from our architect and wanted to play around with materials and colors ourselves before committing. I'm definitely not a design pro, so I looked for simple tools that didn't require a steep learning curve.

A couple of things that helped me:

SketchUp Free (browser version) — it's not AI, but good for basic modeling if your husband can help get it started.

Some AI tools let you upload an image of your elevation or interior and test changes visually — like wall colors, finishes, even siding. I tried one called PaintitAI that was surprisingly straightforward — you just upload a photo and can swap colors or styles. Not super advanced, but helpful for visualizing ideas fast.

Also looked at Roomstyler for interiors — it's more about furniture/layout but fun to play with. Hope this helps, and best of luck with your new home!
