if you are growing it in the house.. include the houseplant forum next time...

once you get the formal Id.. add the word propagation to a search.. and find out how to renovate cuttings... and when you have them growing well.. get rid of the old one..

understand.. that rooted cuttings are the EXACT SAME PLANT... so you heritage continues.. but you will have plants that are functionally babes...

plant renovation is normal and done every few years.. usually in association with repotting...

after you root one or two.. then remove all the rest of the pices from the old plant.. and repot what is left.. and in a few months.. that part should rebud also...

i never had any luck with clay pots in the house.. and apparently neither did the prior owner.. note the inner plastic pot.. and understand it it there because clay pots are pretty.. but dont work well.. so on repotting.. reuse it after bleaching it out..

and never forget.. the most important thing in the pot .... is the media.. not the plant.. so buy some good stuff...

It's a succulent that many have requested an ID for over the years. It's probably some type of sedum, if I had to guess. It's etiolated from lack of light and it's lost a lot of leaves near the base while trying to stretch toward the sunlight. I can't tell if it has a fungus, or not. Hopefully, someone will come along and offer better advice.

I have succulents in a gritty mix in clay pots indoors and they're doing fine. They're actually great for succulents and help prevent over watering.
