Definitely a square/rectangular rug.

A ceiling light is not the best for a living rom. To give the optimum atmosphere, a table lamp in each corner at chest height is crucial.

You might consider looking into a rectangle rug. What colors are you looking to have in the room? Right now the grey sectional and white console seem to be the only colors in the space.

Get as large as to leave just a wood border of 10-12" or so......but not under the console.

A blue or green rug it could have pattern with really freshen up the room
