I agree above. It seems too short and detracts from the nice brick. Beautiful room!

That mantel makes no sense. I would remove. You could replace it with a rough hewn rustic mantel. Or nothing.

Agree! The mantle, brick and stone are competing.

At the very least remove the mantel that doesn't complement this contemporary home

Then consider adding either a floating wood mantle and/or applying a color wash to the brick surround to get it to play nicer with the stone on the wall.

Beverly’s mock-up looks good. Hoping she or another Pro can advise how do you figure out the scale of accessories to use on mantel or hearth?

It looks like you just need a different mantle and perhaps to just use a few pieces on the mantle to decorate it. Here are a few we have done for our clients.

I'd remove the mantel and then paint the brick (including the hearth) in a color that blends with the stone. As it stands now, the brick sticks out, and not in a good way. Why the brick is even there is puzzling--it would look much better if the entire wall were done simply in the flagstone.

Mantel needs to go.
