Beautiful tile! For cabinets I would take a look at the center of tile, that taupe/grey color. Countertop maybe black or cream white. Then black faucet, lighting and hardware. Good luck!

Interesting, the first example is nice with the harmony of the blue cabinets. i could see the cabinets going blue so they engage with the tiles and let everything have a balance.

Id choose light to medium wood for cabinets......and as you ascend up to counter / backsplash and walls lighten up...into creams or a shade of white.....I wouldnt do black.

Taupe cabinets and white counters or white cabinets and counters. It lets the floor be the star of the show, and when he gets sick of the floor, he can swap it out without having to change the cabinets or counter.

Maybe get him to show you what style he likes . I would be inclined to not do black cabinets or that counter but the blue is beautiful and thta is what I would do. But we need aome clue as to what his thought was when picking the tile I think thta IKea color with a white counter could be awesome

Pretty tile! I wouldn’t do black cabinets. Even if there are a ton of windows, I’d worry about it feeling cave like at night. The blue, off white, or taupe colors would make pretty cabinets with light counters. Hardware I’d probably do a satin nickel instead of black but you can wait on that.

I hope you keep posting progress pictures because this will be a pretty kitchen!

ETA I just looked again and noticed the green in the tile. Maybe white perimeter cabinets and if he has an island use the green for that. Same light counters all over.

With good lighting, black would be sophisticated and masculine. The darker blue would also work with good lighting. The lighter blue, less so. The putty color could work, but might fade into the background with the focus on the floor. One of the strong colors meets the boldness of the tile without trying to compete with it. The paler colors recede too much, and leave the focus on the floor only, rather than a complete bold picture.

@minardi thanks, his kitchen is quite small but i thought black could be masculine and elegant as well. he was not keen on a white marble cause of potential stains. he wanted a black counter top. is that ok with dark blue or black cabinets? Only one side of the kitchen will have uppers and they will be low profile. I hate the two tone look but I’m wondering if the uppers should be a light cream like the walls.

Really good high lumen lighting will be important. Both task lighting and ambient.

Remember though that in a small kitchen, cabinetry will cover a large portion of the vertical surface (i.e., the walls). This IKEA kitchen contains black cabinets but there's also a lot of white walls (and countertop). A small galley kitchen lined with black cabinets could end up looking like a cave -- made even worse by a black countertop -- even if it were well-lit.
