Okra is very much a summer vegetable and tolerates high heat. It also likes warmth. I wouldn't plant unless the soil temp is 65F or higher. I suspect it's a little early for you.

I discovered that I some luttuce must have seeded themselves... or the fairies. Anyway I have a couple of plants happily growing in the raspberry pot.

I will hold off starting the Okra. THank you for helping me. (I think I've forgotten half of what I once knew.)

I will go out and look for some peas already started.

That would be smart. To check with your local extension. But be aware, okra is VERY cold sensitive. While 65F soil temp is a lower limit for planting (and some suggest 75F!) Okra doesn't even like air temperatures below 65F. It is fundamentally a tropical vegetable, and probably came here from West Africa.

THank you for the temp advise. I'll wait awhile to start growing the Okra seeds, and I check with our very good Extension. I have a book from our Master Gardeners, that takes you month to month for gerdening and growing,... but not Okra I've even seen. I will check with the Extension to see what info i'll find.
