Clé Tile and color variations/ weathered white

Hello,
I want to inform consumers of Clé Tile to be very careful about choosing their tile if you need the color of your product to be a truer representation of their samples and colors.

My construction team recently purchase weathered white for my kitchen. I chose it based on seeing the tile samples and seeing it installed in two homes. When my tile arrived it was more like their color, Vellum, and not weathered white. Our team thought they sent us mislabeled boxes. We asked for help from Clé Tile and they said it was a normal variation of the color weathered white which is a level three color. I absolutely can not put this color on my walls. I‘m out $1500. Do not order weathered white if you expect the tile to be somewhat white!

I hope this saves someone time and money! Buyer beware- they do not accept returns or their mistakes.

Update. They are making an exception and allowing us to return the tile. They still maintain that the color they sent is within the normal range of color variations between dye lots.

I reached out to Zia Tile because I love clay tile and they will allow customers to order a box of sample tile, and then they can trace the dye lot and get you tile from that lot, if it is available. You do have to purchase a whole box though and not just sample pieces.

I’m, at least, happy with the resolution.

So the labels on the boxes say it's weathered white? Can you go to the store and get samples of both colors and compare to yours?

Looks more grey than the beigeish parched vellum on my monitor, but definitely closer to whitish gray udertones than beige undertones. Unfortunately part of the deal with handmade tiles I am afraid, not the first time this complaint has been raised.

This is why you ask for samples from the current shade lot run, before purchase. Then request that approved shade lot in the purchase order. Hand made tile shade run variances are worse than differences in fabric dye runs.

As far as I'm aware, Cle doesn't allow sampling from the specific shade lot you're purchasing. It's one reason not to buy from them.

It is one of the plusses I guess for people ordering hand made tiles I do not ever use them for exactly this reason. Dye lots are a PITA even with regular tile and handmade just adds to that .

Follow up: If can not return my tile because in order to return it I have to sign an legal agreement saying I will not leave any negative comments about Clé on the internet anywhere and if I already have, I will take them down.

I wrote to Houzz to take down this post and they can not because folks have already engaged with the post and it would disrupt their community.

I actually prefer donating it to Restore or Habitat for Humanity and take the tax write off. This way we can share our experience publicly and inform consumers. We all deserve to know all the sides of a company.

Again Clé Tile is beautiful, but the dye lots vary significantly. Try to buy a sample box and be sure that if you like the color, you can trace the dye lot and order from that dye lot.

The tiles in your first picture definitely look like two different colors; I'm sorry you're having this hassle. But also, you can delete this post on your own if you want. On a computer, under your initial paragraph, there's a Delete button.
