Staircase help!

Bought this home a few years ago and have never really been happy with the stairs, I

feel like they’re too high. I asked the previous owner if he had done any work to them and he said a contractor removed carpet and replaced with the current hardwood. Any ideas on how to remedy?

What is the rise and the run currently? Typically you cannot change stairs.

You could add a runner or carpet treads and a second banister on the other wall. It won't change the step shape, but they will be safer and easier to use.

Looks like they did not hire a professional company to contruct them. I don't think they can be fixed. Get some advice from a company that builds rails and baulesters. I know.... hugh expense :-(

What do you mean by "too high"? The rise of each tread is too tall? Or the handrail feels low since it sounds like wood may have been added to each step.

yes, i was referring to the risers being higher than the diagnal side-wall. Was wondering if any of you had seen this before. Without it being a huge expense we will leave as is for now. 😊
