I'm only 5' 5", but I find the apron-front sink comfortable to work with. What I also really appreciate is that any errant drips and splashes run down the face of the sink, thus doing no damage, unlike non-apron-fronts where water gets on the cabinetry below and can ruin finishes (happened at my old house, I'm careful but DH is not...).

I am also 5’9” and have absolutely loved our Shaw farmhouse apron front sink since it was installed 15 years ago. It is large, deep, and comfortable to use.

I'm 5'10 and like Cozzie I've had my Shaw farmhouse apron front sink for 15 years and love it. Be sure to get the stainless steel grid for the bottom.

When I bought my last faucet (a Rohl bridge faucet) I was able to buy a longer spout for it so that it reached further into the sink. That sink was an apron sink and I found the combination very comfortable. I added in the TapMaster and really loved my set up.

Apron sinks are available in a variety of widths which will determine the distance from the front of the sink to the faucet. Examples (at build.com):

• Ruvati RVL2300 sink: Length: 33", Width: 20"

Remember also that you should buy a faucet whose spout reach is properly sized for the sink.

I love my Kohler Whitehaven Hayridge. We went from a 1 ½ stainless sink with drainboard to a 36” single sink. This was a huge splurge, but the moment we saw it in the showroom we knew this was it. A year later, I still absolutely adore my sink. It just brings me joy, especially when I fill it with plants.

I also have terrible back pain and this sink makes a huge difference. The grates keep things a bit higher. The sink is also a bit slanted at the front which somehow makes it more comfortable.

I love the ridged front as I’m not afraid little scratches will wear and tear on it. But this sink comes with a huge caveat! It gets so stained! Barkeepers’ friend is the only thing that cleans it. One thing that all those bloggers leave out is that, yes, you can get it clean with the BK, but it wears away at the shiny-ness and gets more and more easily stained as it wears. So buyer beware. The grates do need a good scrub once in a while but I can’t imagine not having them. They also take the focus away from the sink stains as I try to only use the BK once a week.

But I love it and don't regret my decision.

I also have a Kohler Whitehaven but I have never needed BKF or had any stains. I’ve only been using it 7 months. I just use dish soap and my dish brush. Maybe we cook very differently?

Oh dear, why are you regularly at the sink for 20 minutes? I have a farmhouse sink and love it, but I am 5’ on the nose and get dinner dishes loaded in the dishwasher next to the sink in under 5 minutes.

When designing a workstation (or any space) for someone, this is the diagram I refer to.

It is a starting point to make space relatable the the person or persons that will be using the space. Sometimes a mock-up is constructed to verify dimensions.

This sink would be a poor choice for the OP. Not only is the sink 19-5/16" deep (others are as little as 18") forcing the faucet to be pushed back, but the bowl is 2-1/4" from the front of the sink (other are only 1"). It's also expensive at $1410-1450.

Is "deep" from front to back, or from top to bottom?

I should have written that the Kohler K-6351 sink is 19-5/16" wide, not 19-5/16" deep. It's 8-13/16" deep.

@blueskysunnyday I'm not sure why. We mostly cook from scratch, but with lots of spices. I'm always careful with my tea, but my husband always dumps his coffee thermos in there at end of work day. We sure use it a lot all day long. I would say we are heavy users but also careful. I never go to bed not doing the dishes. I wonder if it's a factory finish thing. Some seem to have this problem and others don't.

To the OP, I'm 5'9 as well. We got the Brizo Odin. I never feel the tap is too far. I tend to use the pull down most of the time. I was thinking some more on the ergonomics, and while this will apply to any farmhouse sink, I think the biggest difference on the back is that the sink sits an inch lower than your counter so you're not having to lean forward as much. You can just stand normally.

I had a farmhouse sink, Whitehaus Fireclay, for 13 years. When I sold the house the sink still looked brand new. No stains, chips, etc. Husband cooked all the time with lots of spices, drank a lot of coffee too. Never had a problem cleaning it. Loved the sink and will be putting the same thing in my new place. No back issues, I’m 5’8”, husband was 6’. I agree, faucet is key, make sure it extends far enough.

Here's a fireclay apron front that I'm hating. 900K for my girlfriend's 10-year-old house in Texas which she bought online and we saw for the first time yesterday. Good thing there's a sprayer so I can spend half a minute chasing French press coffee grounds down the drain every morning. She's fussy.
