Update on my post. Tom Bergan phoned me again about an hour ago--he had the proof of delivery picture from Fed Ex. It had been left at my old address, 4 miles up the road. There were two labels on it, the top label from McKay Nursery with my present address, and further down the tall box, a much smaller label affixed by Fed Ex with my old address. Clearly, whoever at Fed Ex put on that label paid no attention whatsoever to the Nursery's label. And I guess the driver went with the Fed Ex label.

As I said in my previous post, Fed Ex is simply terrible around here.

Wow - good for you! And congratulations on the purchase - I got one of those on clearance in the fall of 2022 - and it produced a few berries last year that were delicious! I was pleasantly surprised because I always heard how wonderful serviceberries are, but I had another variety previously - and the taste was pretty poor.

LaLennoxa, how is the fall color? I'm desperate for fall color in that spot.

It's beautiful! Actually, it was one of the main reasons I bought it - saw it on clearance during the fall, and its leaves were a brilliant red/orange. As I didn't expect much from the berries, the fact that they actually ended up being delicious when I tasted them the following summer was a bonus.

what happened to the original one at old adddress.? Or did you end up with that one after all?

I ended up with the original one, though I'm somewhat concerned that it sat all day Sunday--a very warm sunny day near 70 degrees in full sun. The medium in which the roots were wrapped was still quite moist when I opened the package Monday afternoon, however, and the plant looks good--still dormant but with lots of buds about to open. The buds seem soft and not dried out so I'm hopeful and planning to plant it this morning.
