It is best to finish later and let the backfill and everything settle, and to make sure there are no water or moisture issues, etc. with your foundation, and after about 2 years plan on finishing your basement.

Totally agree with GN Builders. Use the time to plan your future space. We placed masking tape on the floor to represent the walls so we could better imagine the rooms. Once we were comfortable we then positioned cannister lights via an X and envisioned placement os switches and receptacles. With a final layout you can obtain quotes or proceed DIY.

I always finish the basement at the same time as the rest of the house. But greatest care must be taken that water will be excluded.
