Maybe a couple of separate air purifiers with HEPA filters would help? Then you can install whatever unit fits the window.

Rolling or portable A/C's have an exhaust tube that works with a window insert or a clothes dryer wall vent. Very efficient.

The exhaust hose on single-hose* portable units is to for the condenser heat, not specifically to ventilate the room. They are not efficient for cooling purposes.

*There are also two-hose portable units which pull in outdoor air through one hose and blow it back out the other to dissipate the condenser heat, thus isolating the room air from that process. Those are more efficient for cooling than single-hose units.

I think air filters with hepa would be abetter choice Dyson make some I think but Amazon has all kinds that are very affordable
