Personally, I think the two sofas make the slace look larger than the sectional does.

It’s almost always better to use two sofas vs. a sectional in a room. I qualified my statement with ”almost” because there may be times when a sectional is better - but based upon all of the many, many comments I’ve read on Houzz the past three years, designers ALWAYS advise people to use two sofas (or one sofa + two chairs) vs. buying a sectional.

Two sofas can be used in different layouts + can be used in different rooms. A sectional limits your options - and doesn’t work in many rooms.

The space between the two sofas allows the furniture to “breathe”, making the room less crowded.

I do feel like 2 sofas would be better. However, I feel like the style will play a lot into it as well. My friend got a new sofa ( same width as the old one ) but it is deeper and taller and it looks huge compared to her old one.

The variant with two sofas looks more spacious I think this is due to the fact that a large sofa is hard to place in any other way. Smaller sofas can be moved to make more space or moved to one side. A big sofa takes away the spaciousness of the room and makes it visually smaller. I advise you to opt for the option with two sofas.

Basically, a bigger sofa gives more space to the room, since it stands in the very corner of the room, especially sofas in lighter tones blend into the surroundings, helping a room feel more expansive. If you use this sofa on a light surface or in a room with a light renovation, then this sofa will perfectly fit this room and will definitely make it look like an increase in space in the room. Therefore, it all depends on the color, shape of the sofa, and even the lighting in the room, so all factors affect the space there.
