What color/fabric shower curtain?

last year

Appreciate the help!! Paint is a really dark grey green. All else is white and marble. Not sure if I should stay white, go wheat/linen, or something else or would that be too busy?

i admit i am curious as to why you installed this instead of a more functional shower.

That is a lovely bathroom. I would probably pick something soft white or cool like a baby blue. I wish you had some way to make the shower curtain higher and larger to allow for more space around the tub like a glass box. Or maybe across part of the bathroom. below are some similar elegant bathtubs with shower curtains. Truly a beautiful Victorian idea.

Seconding the suggestion for textured white fabric such as the matlasse suggested by Lyn. Your pretty bathroom deserves a really nice curtain.

If you would consider a pattern, perhaps one of these beautiful William Morris shower curtains with green tones? https://tarragonia.com/collections/william-morris

Gorgeous bath! I would consider a white linen shower curtain. Waffle linen towels would add the finishing touch. Check the Etsy website.

Thanks so much for all your suggestions.

    1. I’m checking on the paint color (we matched our fireplace wall
    2. we did the tub to be visually uniques as we have 4 showers in our house & I wanted a tub but know people like to shower so since our place is @100yrs+ old we mixed old and modern
    3. thanks for the curtain links!! The white with pattern is beautiful. It was also a great ideas to do waffle towels and curtain or the beautiful patterns to bring in more color!! REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!!!!

Is double-like an option to Oly’s message? I’m sure none of us would do an in-person dis of a completed project. I’ve never understood the need for it here.

I missed the negative comment - it’s been deleted. However, I am always surprised when people post negative comments about a completed project. I shouldn’t be surprised - because I’ve read enough of them over the past 3 1/2 years since I’ve joined Houzz.

OP - I hope that you are able to determine the color that was used on wainscoting + post it in a comment. It looks really nice with the marble - and I’m wondering if it would work for one of my fireplace updates (I’m using marble slab for the surround + hearth that’s flush with the wood floor). I need to determine paint colors for the fireplace mantle/legs + built-ins.

My first thought re: shower curtain was a nice textured white fabric curtain (with an inner liner for inside the tub when in use) - however, now I’m wondering if something similar to Olychick’s examples would be a better option. It might be nice to to add a fun design with some color.

I’m excited to see what you decide. Please post more photos of your bathroom!

Also - I like your french doors - I need some similar doors - would you mind sharing where you found them? Thank you!

Appreciate the help!! Paint is a really dark grey green. All else is white and marble. Not sure if I should stay white, go wheat/linen, or something else or would that be too busy?

I get what you're going for here ... it's dramatic, modern, trendy. The dark green is a nice change from the more-expected black, and the marble is super-trendy. All those aspects are done well, but it's not practical for showering.

I personally would lose the shower-curtain support ring at the top and add a smaller shower on the left /across from the vanity. This'd excuse you from the chore of closing that wiiiiiide curtain all around the tub and bringing the inner liner into the tub to prevent spills.

Consider that you want your open curtain to "park" on the left side of the tub ... partially so it won't block the window, but also so as you draw the curtain closed, the split will be on the right /placing you closer to the towel warmer. But, as I look at the picture again, I'm nervous about you being able to reach the towels. The edge of the tub is fairly close to the wall /towel warmer, but the floor of the tub is not as close ... you'll have to reeeach, while standing on a wet surface. It'd be safer to replace the wall-mounted unit with a freestanding model ... or plan to take the towel off the warmer before you begin your shower.

Alternately, since you've wisely included a telephone-style hand-held shower head, I foresee you skipping traditional showers and washing with that ... while sitting.

Alternately-alternately, you'll probably go down the hall to one of those other, more functional showers.

Since your goal is to create a shower, my first thought is bring in a flowy, whispy white shower curtain (with an inner plastic liner) ... that'd keep your two-tone color-scheme going. On the other hand, if you want some and color, I'd opt for a deep-green print curtain (again, don't neglect that inner plastic liner) to surround the tub and then towels in the same color. Someone else mentioned a William Morris pattern; they're hot right now and would look good with the design you've begun.

While you're choosing a curtain, consider these bathroom details as well:

    - You need a small table to stand near the tub ... something that can hold shampoo, etc. Since it'll be "front and center", you probably want to choose pretty squirt bottles and decant your products into them.

    - Don't neglect floor mats.

    - Every room needs a bit of greenery somewhere.

    - Every room needs something organic ... perhaps a wicker trash can or hamper?

Thanks for the suggestions!! To answer some questions:
82” from floor to curtain ring
Still checking the paint color- sorry for the delay!! (I actually have it on my fireplace wall too)
French doors were ordered from www.doortodoor.com
I’m looking at the bath caddy from frontgate in chrome/glass for access to items from the tub
The rack in the photo isn’t a towel warmer it’s just a floor stand towel rack that I’ll return to another bathroom- just getting ideas
Love the suggestion for plants/ maybe I’ll do orchids since it gets lots of light
Love the patterned curtains so checking that out

The Reno is done so not changing big items like the shower head, ceiling round rod etc…just trying to finish the accessories

    Thx team!!
    Thanks much!!

gorgeous bath - I love the idea of textured whites for shower and towels, (classic and lets the rest of the room shine)
