We need a toscale floor plan with every meausrement clearly marked and all in feet and inches sq footage does nothing for getting help. Can you also show us the rest of the main floor to understand how this space relates to the rest of the house Post the plan here on graph paper in jepg format in a comment DO NOT start another post.

Is the main circulation to the garden, for the entire house, coming through the kitchen between the island and stove? What is the purpose of the long (angled windowless wall) cabinet which looks like it has a tv on it? Is the 1/2-dining table occupants facing the island better than facing the garden window/door?

If those questions brought up non-optimal layout points, then maybe the island/Kitchen could go on the angled wall side, which would put it closer to the Utility/Powder Room (functionally appropriate to be grouped with a "backhouse" of Kitchen), and have enough room for a stand-alone Dining.

I think on our drawing the island is much too big. We had the idea of integrated dining at the end of the island but I think that is going to be too limiting so would like a separate dining table and thinner island. I agree with the other comments who said anything much more than 1.2 deep is wasted space! I love the idea of the kitchen on the angled wall and the little seating area on the nook bit between the steel nib and the doors. Yes this is the only access to the garden. The utility and loo will be behind a pocket door so contain noise etc away from the dining area and I like the dining by the fireplace. I'm going to get a few kitchen people in but wanted to be armed with some ideas and options and everyone's been so helpful!
