Thanks. I did notice that Whirlpool makes the identical fridge to the Maytag I saw. I just like the looks of the Maytag better. Personal preference, really.

Whirlpool bought Maytag in 2006.

My elderly parents bought that basic Maytag range a couple of years ago to replace a broken range. I've cooked on it & in it. The radiant top works fine. No complaints with baking in it either. I think the backsplash part feels a little flimsy: it gives & creaks a bit when pushing to adjust temperature or time, but as long as it does its job, so what. The glass has not scratched & the enamel in the oven is still in great shape. My mom preferred her previous convection oven, but at 92 years, my folks didn't want to spend more for something they might not be around to use.

Thanks for the information. This is very helpful. Good to know your experience with the stove that I’m considering. I will be sure to try out the backsplash once I can get to the store, but doesn’t sound like a deal breaker to me either!
