Sorry but I have no idea what you are trying to do. The inspo pic you show is farmhouse not at all what you have in the space black winsor chairs will not work with your table IMO Maybe explain exactly what style you want . PLease no plantation shutters . You have lovely furniture what is the reason for this change BTW the buffet/ hutch will aslo not be modern farmhouse . Mayeb just a bigger rug a bit more modern with a big floral prnt and some new drapes to work with the new rug. Something like this with soame nice pale blue faux silk drapes would toatlly change the feel of the space without doing anything else

You have a beautiful set. Do you want to go more traditional (patterned curtains) or more transitional (plantation shutters)? Have you considered a new wall color?

As you said, the floors don't go with the dining set. So it would be best to have a rug, not eliminate it. As Patricia said, Windsor chairs won't go with the table. If you want to tone down the Chippendale, get upholstered chairs in a transitional style, but if the chairs that go with the table are in good shape and good quality, why not keep them? Like apple_pie_order, I am not sure what direction you want to go in. The china cabinet is the bossiest piece in the room. I see it's full, so it looks like you use it. Are there any parts of this set you're willing to swap out besides the chairs? What does your living room look like?

I have had a lot of traditional dining sets given to me from family. I've mixed and matched them to make them work in various homes, with an eclectic vibe, and on a budget. Forget all of these terms or matching a style like traditional, farmhouse, whatever.

Aside from the floor issue, do you like all of the pieces of this set? Do you like the chairs? Would you use them happily if they worked or are you looking for an excuse to get new ones? Do you like the china cabinet independent of the rest of the furniture?

Let's take it from there.

I just live the pic of table w the Windsor chairs but a new DR set is not in the budget. My entire downstairs is all pulled apart because my husband has been laying these new floors -
I’m liking the idea of upholstered chairs - my chairs are in good shape, but I really wanted to change the wood color to try to match up better to the flooring.
I really like the look without the rug - thanks again for all your suggestions!

Why would the beautiful wood floors not go with the Chippendale dining set???? Those are exactly the kind of floors you see in Colonial Williamsburg homes. Colonial/Georgian/Chippendale, all would work with your floors. I think you could keep all the furniture and change other items, like the rug, the curtains, and the walls. Wallpaper would be awesome, or those printed curtains.

I would work with the dining table, chairs and hutch that you have, especially if I was on a limited budget. Spend the money on a new rug, drapes and paint. I think a soft, pale blue colour scheme would complement nicely. If you need help, hire a decorator to steer you in the right direction for colours. Get a personal recommendation, I find a couple of hours with my decorator is usually money well spent.

The dining room was just painted antique white 🤦‍♀️ it does look yellow-ish

Your new floors are beautiful. Can you consider removing the sconces and post a picture of the chandelier? Not sure why you would do shiny black on the lighting, but let's see the chandelier.

Your furniture looks fine to me, I think you need more accessories, a rug that gives the room life, a group of framed artwork pieces that gives color and direction to the room. What is the fabric of your chairs? Is there a color that you love that can translate to draperies?

I think the black chandelier will pop nicely against your newly painted walls. I'd recover the seats in black upholstery. Get the drapes you posted. Get a slightly larger rug. Hard to tell but it seems yours might not be large enough. You are not creating a period room, are on a budget, and have really great furniture, floors, and painted walls to work with. You are closer than you think to a good finished room.

The paint does look quite yellow on my monitor. If it’s fresh and neutral and you like it, that’s easy to work with. Agree with Design2girl. Spend the paint $ on art, and let’s see your chandelier. Bring in colour with a new rug and drapes, something soft and elegant.

No to the Windsor chairs. Take everything out of the room that is not staying. The floral drapes you posted would look great with your dining room set. No need for an area rug if you don’t want one. Start with the drapes and the room will start to come together. Add one thing at a time. Drapes, centerpiece, etc. lastly decide if you need to reupholster your chairs and maybe change your end chairs.

Are you kidding me? The Chippendale chairs look so much better than the windsor chairs. Think about it in terms of historical design. Rustic American vs more sophisticated English furniture design. It is all what you like of course. But the floral drapes are not good, skip the plantation shutters, and if you don't like the black rug, buy a new one but keep a rug in that room. You are overreacting to the width of the floor boards. They are not a problem.
