Dimensions would help you get advice, floor plan would be better. For the steam shower clips or channel will be fine, personally I prefer the mini clips or channel or the larger bulky clips but this will be size and thickness of the glass dependent and I would most likely go with what your vetted pro recommends and is more comfortable using. As far as the transom, if fitted and installed properly, you will lose a very small amount of steam at the most. Tempered glass of course is required for safety reasons and I agree on Low Iron but in opinion I would definitely get the Showerguard option for protection of the glass, none of the other aftermarket products, definitely Showerguard.

As for the installation, you can choose either clips or a U-channel depending on your design preference; U-channels often give a cleaner, more seamless look. For the steam shower, ensure that the glass is specifically rated for high humidity, but regular tempered glass should work if properly sealed. Regarding the transom, steam might escape if the seal isn't tight, so make sure it's well-fitted to minimize this issue.
