We're replacing our wood windows with PVC ones, and the window company warned us about potential paint lines around the new trim. We thought we could preemtively paint an inch in where the trim will be removed to prevent white unpainted lines. However, the painter we had over for a quote noted that due to existing layers of paint and nail holes, it will require drywall work and repainting the entire wall for a seamless finish, which could be costly. I had a bad experience in the past with a painter getting paint all over our woodwork and was hoping to prevent the need for painting around the new trim.

We're unsure whether to proactively get repairs and painting done or wait and address any paint lines after the window replacement. Has anyone experienced similar issues during window replacement? How did you handle them? Do you think we should take preventive measures or wait and fix any issues afterward? Any advice would be appreciated!
