I’ve got the Palmolive version. It’s good and I see it’s rated almost as high as Dawn on amazon, 4.6 vs 4.8, so I’m guessing they’re similar. When I run out I’ll try the viral Dawn hack. But honestly more times than not I forget I have it so this bottle has been aroind for a while!

I sprayed it on a small non-stick frying pan that Jim used for Italian sausages, and I left it over night. There was no excess running water involved.

I stopped using all Dawn because it leaves a fragrance that can be tasted on plastics and silicone. The Powerwash was the worse. I sprayed my waffle iron plates with it and couldn't get the smell out. I had to soak them, scrub with baking soda, and run them through the dishwasher twice.

Arcy, I don’t think I quite understand. I just know it is amazing at cleaning anything, not just in the kitchen.

What arcy is saying, and I misinderstood, is that people ”need” this strong stuff because they try to clean under running water instead of letting things soak. I get her point but would say this can clean more effectively than a soak.

Oh, I see. Yes, sometimes a soak doesn’t do it. Actually, my favorite soak is overnight with powdered dishwasher detergent, but it’s been getting harder to find at my stores, so I wrote a note on the most recent box not to use it in the dishwasher, but save it for soaking! Still, some things can’t be soaked (e.g., boot trays) so the Powerwash to the rescue.

I use the Powerwash occasionally, it does work well, but I don’t like the smell. It reminds me of old fish.

I got a bottle of the Palmolive and it stinks so bad I can't hardly use it, it's very noxious like when you spray oven cleaner! I also found that it didn't do much! I used it to soak my stove top burner bibs. It did absolutely NOTHING except make me cough! Oven cleaner did a much better job for the burner bibs.

I keep Dawn Platinum around in case I come across an oily duck.

It sits at my mudroom sink, and is helpful for grilling utensils.

I've been using Dawn Powerwash for a long time and still have a couple of bottles or the original formula, which they stopped making a couple of years ago. It is amazing for cleaning pans that have burned on oil. I've never used it on plastic, and my nonstick pans do not need anything that strong. It does not leave a fragrance on stainless steel, from my experience, and that is what I use it for.

If I have burned on food in my All Clad SS skillet, I will spray Powerwash on it, cover it, and let it sit overnight. In the morning, all it needs is a soft sponge to get it completely clean.

What does leave a bad scent is Cascade Platinum pods in my Bosch dishwasher. Cascade Complete is not so offensive, but I prefer to use unscented DW detergents. My Whirlpool DW does not have this problem, but it take 3 to 4 hours to run one cycle.

We've been using it for awhile now, and it's great for extra greasy stuff like crusty roasting pans, but I don't use it for everyday dishes, since I don't care for the scent either. Even the 'unscented' isn't fragrance free. I haven't used it to 'soak' things, either.

I never wash dishes under continually running water. I use dishpans, and pour the rinse water on my plants outside.

One of my favorite kitchen products. I use it on the items I would otherwise soak a while. Everything comes off so well, and I’m not wasting water and my time scrubbing.

Interesting. We have some enameled baking/roasting pans with seemingly permanent baked on crud. I appreciate learning of this product; we'll give it a try.

I have both Dawn Platinum dishwashing liquid and Dawn with the duck on the bottle, I like the duck….

There's regular Dawn, Dawn Platinum, and then there is the Powerwash formula. Different products.

If it’s been baked on for a while, Elmer, it might not be quite the miracle, but it should help.

The gentle version of Easy-Off did nothing. I could always try the nuclear option of that too. Or, toss them and buy a few new ones. They're not that expensive.

I term I used quickly was imprecise, What I was referring to was enameled steel broiler pans with rack inserts.

I don’t have the powerwash, just the regular Dawn Platinum, I haven’t tried the powerwash one yet.

Elmer, I hate (and I use that word sparingly) cleaning broiler pans. I let one go too long without a good scrub so stuff was pretty baked on. I finally used the PowerWash. and while it did take a couple of cleanings, it wasn’t nearly as bad as scrubbing even more. And some corners in the rack could still use some help.

What I should do is Powerwash every time. But I give in to my inner child that says ”but I don’t like cleaning the broiling pans” even though it isn’t that hard. and maybe I will eventually not mind so much.

It did seem to me the present product is not as effective as it used to be. Thanks Lars. I find it useful for baked on grime but would never use it as advertised. I also use a basin to hand wash the things I hand wash.

I have found that the regular Dawn liquid to be an all purpose cleaner and it is about the only thing that I use, aside from a bit of Bartenders Friend and a bottle of Simple Green that I use once in a while. Regular Dawn cleans most things very well. I even washed the truck with it last time and it does a good job of washing window glass, too.

But let us not fool oursleves into thinking that it is benign or without consequences. You have to realize that it is not magic in the bottle. Rather, it is chemicals in the bottle, no matter if it is Dawn or super Dawn. Those chemicals have consequences when they go down the drain and we should all seek to minimize or eliminate thier use, no matter. Just because it has no fumes and we use it with our bare hands, does not mean that it is innocuous.

I see people who just put the water to run in the sink and just let it run for the whole time that they are cleaning up, thus pouring both water and chemicals down the drain in a steady flow.

I can't stand the smell of Dawn at all. I bought it to use as a home-made cleaning solution. One was spraying it on the walls of the shower. The smell was such I had to close the door and open the window. Horrible smell. I would never be able to wash dishes with it.

Eileen, try leaving the waffle irons and other perfumed items out in dry sunshine/UV light for a few hours or a day.

Elmer — I believe I would be able to get the baked on crud off those enameled steel pans. Done that. First scrape off all that can. Next, warm the pan and in a well ventilated area ampy apply full strength oven cleaner. Lots. Cover and let the cleaner remain on for a few hours. Wash with detergent, then rinse. You may need more than one treatment.

If that fail, you can try lye (carefully).

Dawn power wash is great on greasy clothes also.

My first thought was "powerwash" for driveways etc. Which I might give a try on-if it's that good!

I've never had a problem with just regular Dawn with dishes. The smell, which I've never noticed is not off-putting with me either.

Judy Good, I use Stain Devils (grease formula) for grease on clothes before going into the washing machine-but good to know about Dawn power wash working also.

Claudia - Careful with the cars, dishwashing soap can strip wax and sealers.

The other day someone told me they had gotten spaghetti sauce on their white shirt while cooking, and Dawn detergent took care of it.

Then someone said Dawn detergent is good for cleaning your eyeglass lenses if they have the various coatings, as the pads you can buy damage or remove the coating.. But hmm, I GOT the pads from the optometrist and from the optician, so I don’t know about that.

I use it on my kids backpacks at the end of the year, then wash like normal. They come out looking brand new.

It’s also good for white tennis shoes. Many of my friends use it to get out the red softball dirt from pants and shoes.

But it has left a taste on some items if I don’t rinse very well.

Agree Dawn is great for grease/oil stains with laundry. Regular Dawn’s also good for driveways. I do have the Platinum Power Wash but tend to forget it’s there.

Here's we what use for scrubbing carbonized grime - they last forever, and don't rust like steel wool...

I use it, but never as Arcy described. I mostly cook with cast iron, and I don't use it on that. But if I boiled something in a stainless steel pot I'll often spray the inside, cover it, and leave it overnight. It cleans up quickly in the morning. I use it to clean my air fryer after each use. And it has replaced anything I used to use to clean the glass (?) top of my gas range. It's a great grease cutter. I wish I could just spray and wipe it, but it requires a little wetting. A spritz of water from a bottle followed by a paper towel will do it.

I use it for several things. For those who do not like the scent, Dawn Powerwash does have an unscented, clear version.

That's what we have - it's not unscented, it's 'free & clear' - the scent is lighter, but it's still there. At least it's a food related scent, not weird perfume.

food...., the finish on my old truck has been gone for a long time, so no worries there. My truck got really clean!

As to those who are concerned about the scent....I can relate, as I find most scents to be just awful and avoid them as much as I possibly can. But I have to say that I dont find Dawn to be one that clings, at all. I simply wont buy many things because of the scents that are over powering. So, no fabric softener, no hair products, nothing.

I used to clean with Spic n Span until they put in enough scent to take the breath away. But each person's nose will percieve scents differently and they will trigger different sensations and memories.

It is my understanding that even those products that are free of perfumes still have something to counter the odor of the chemicals in some manner.

I love Dawn for getting greasy stains off of clothes. Even those that were washed and dried before. But if isopropyl is in the powerwash, I now know to skip using it on clothes. I bet that would take color out in an instant.

Elmer I use these on broiler pans and oven racks. It doesn't require much effort at all! It works great in ovens too, but I usually use the steam clean feature.

I see it recommended for all kinds of things, but I've been a lemon scented Joy user for decades and it's done all I've asked it to do 😊 I tried an Oxy spray for laundry on mothers clothing a few times and it did wonderfully - she could get some food stains (coffee) front of her tops with tremor, meals, but I haven't found the need to buy any for here at home. And believe me, DH can get dirty although not as deeply muddy as he once did when working at forestry consulting while I am not good about reaching for an apron when cooking even frying.

I hand wash all my pots and pans. I put one lid of my treasured vintage magnalite in the dishwasher one time and the color of my lid when finished convinced me to not use my dishwasher for expensive cookware 😊 And with my not loved glass topped stove, pots must be as clean on the outside and bottoms as their insides....and they are.

For windows which DH is gratefully very good about keeping up inside and out ( living and part of dining rooms are floor to ceiling glass), he uses original formula Windex indoors and water, ammonia, just a bit of powdered laundry soap outside. Works for us.

I don't object to seeing how the Dawn power wash might be helpful, just haven't found a need and try to keep products few and simple.

morz8---- I am with you in that I try to keep it few and simple. So many household chemcials that people buy are unneeded and the harm that they cause can far exceed any real value.
