Small foyer help needed!

last year

Should I paint the ceiling recess gold or navy to help liven up the space and make the fixture pop? Any other ideas welcome!!

I wouldn't want the fixture to be "the" highlight in the entry - instead, I'd want to lead visitors through the entry using eye-level design. Maybe a great wallpaper (leaving the fixture area white as a subtle highlight), colorful art and rugs, a nice chair in the corner if you feel you need one....

In the image on my screen, it appears that your paint color does not blend well with your flooring. Perhaps a soft sage-green or warm soft blue paint color would be nice and add some warmth to the space.

I think it would look fabulous painted. Go for it! Not difficult to change if you end up not liking it (but I think you’ll love it).

This is actually grasscloth, but I included it just to show how the color really makes the fixture stand out:

I had to screenshot this from an IG Reel, so it’s probably not helpful, but it’s your light with a gold Venetian plaster ceiling:

A poster here asked about putting wallpaper on her entry ceiling a while back — of course most responders said don’t do it — she did and loves it. It looks amazing.

Again, yours would be an easy fix back if necessary.

Hopefully others can find better inspiration pics, I’m in a hurry and just grabbed these quickly.

If you do it, please update!

gold would be fun, I would star with just the ceiling then continue with the rest of the indent, if you like it... a metallic finish, not just gold colored.

I agree that you need to have the fixture hung lower so it shows more. Here is a blue metallic finish that I think would look better than gold to set off the fixture.

If it’s like this designer’s fixture, it’s flush mount. Here’s another pic from the Reel I posted above, showing the installation:

But it might not be that one, I’m not sure.

The gold coulld be fun but also mabe tacky depending on the paint used for sure not glossy or that light will bounce off and make a real glare . I do not like the wall color now with thta floor .

Yes, @Jilly that is the Visual Comfort flush mount. I’d love to drop it lower, but have no idea how on a flush mount. Thanks everyone for the advice. Maybe I should paint the walls first and add color to the recess and see how that works. Thank you all!!

So I took some advice and painted the walls Stonington Gray, a favorite color of mine, to give the area some warmth, match the veins in the marble and see if the fixture would pop. I think it did the job. Still contemplating painting the recess too. Tried to turn the art vertical and it didn’t look right. Thank you all for your advice. I’m open to more.

IMO, the floor color is a misfit with the cold gray. I like your artwork but why not center it on the hall, instead of on the wall?
