Can you help me identify this treasure?

I found this treasure in my travels and am struggling to identify the piece. From what I've found it appears to be marble seat (cracked) with mother of pearl inlay. I cannot match the flowers in the mother of pearl. It is a beautiful piece. Under the seat the marble says 1914.

I did do a reverse search. My dilemma is I've found several pieces similar but not identical. I know very little about antiques. If I like a piece, I buy it. My husband did some digging and said Dali marble, rosewood, Qing Dynasty throne chair. It makes sense, however, he asked the antique store owner and after a quick glance at one picture, the gentleman said throw it in a fire. I love the piece and plan to keep it but if it's an antique throne chair I will probably not use it on the outside covered porch to have plants on it. It is a solid piece with no nails. It's very heavy and the marble has natural bumps in it. After looking under the seat the marble says 19.14 not 1914. Not sure if that makes any difference

Gorgeous!

I did a reverse image search and lots of similar ones came up. I kept seeing ”Dream Stone” and ”Qing Dynasty“ in descriptions, but I don’t know if they’re applicable here.

Anyway, it might be a start for finding info.

I feel that the style of the carving is definitely Asian. Something is say Japanese to me…

I'm not sure why you would think Japanese, which tends to be less elaborate. It looks Chinese or Chinese influenced- Vietnam was once ruled by China and has a similar aesthetic in their antique furniture.

Collenoz could be onto something… this is Chinese and one can see the elongated shape which is reminiscent of some of the shapes in the example, although the example has more elaborate carving

Rather heavy. 2 people to lift it. Marble seat. Marble on the small round pieces on the arm rests and marble on the back piece.

The width of the piece is approx 37". The depth of the marble seat is approx 20" The height of the piece is approx 42" (floor to top of back rest) Floor to seat height is approx 21"

Antique store owners tend to have special areas of knowledge -- not ALL knowledge. That antique dealer could have known everything about 18th century thimbles and the rest of his knowledge is just picked up along the way. So disregard such a flippant remark.

I agree owners have their 'specialty'. I was put off by the quick glance at one photo and the response to "throw it in the fire". For now I have it in an upstairs bedroom where it wont get weathered. I'm sure I will get an answer at some point. I love the piece and intend to keep it regardless of the owners comment
