if it were mine, I would use the Patio door/Barn Door area as if it were a walk in closet.

Change up the drapery panels to blinds, put a large dresser in front, a chest of drawers under the panel box with Artwork on top (a lightweight canvas for easy removal.

I would float the bed in the middle facing the window. Mount the TV on the angled wall.

Don't you need better curtains in front of the French doors? What you have looks too sheer, and really not wide enough for the window area. There should still be some gathers when they're down. In any case, I would put two chairs with a table in between on the side of the room with the shelving. Hang a piece of art over the access panel so it's hidden unless you need to get to it.

Ok a couple of things I should have mentioned..

We just moved into this space yesterday lol! That is a sheet tacked up so we could have privacy, it is not our window covering. Our roman shades are on order. So that will be taken care of.

Secondly, the bed will not be moving as it will not fit under the window with the two night tables. That was our original plan, but with a king size bed and two large nightstands, it's nearly impossible with a very tight space. It's only 10 feet across under that window since a part of the wall on the left juts out for an heating vent. As well, we need space beside the bed for a bassinet (which you see in the corner) for a new baby due in a week.

As we just finished a 3 month renovation, we will not be paying to re-design the closet.

Just looking for suggestions on a sitting area in the 8x8 foot space.

I do like the idea of a canvas covering the electrical panel door and possibly another mini set of drawers. I'm thinking maybe two chairs two feet in front of the closet or a small loveseat with a "coffee table" or ottoman.

Do you need office space? A desk could fit into that area.

Think about what would be the most functional, but suggest waiting until you get a sense of your ideal use. For instance, store your shoes in the closet, reconfigure some of the shelves and add baskets/books, etc and create a small sitting area/home office, yoga/workout space, etc.

If it were me, with a baby coming and the bassinet in room, it would be so handy to have a small dresser/change table, an area rug and a comfortable chair (both can be used when space is reconfigured).

2 swivel chairs or recliners for watching tv. I'd paint the barn doors white as well.

You could make a dressing area with a full length floor mirror and a large ottoman or chaise. Some clothes hooks there, a floor lamp, that sort of thing. It's convenient to have someplace to sit and tie your shoes or lay out clothes.

Add a rocking chair and baby changing table.

It does seem like the ideal space for things you’ll need for a baby, but if you have what you need in another space, I really like the idea from tracefloyd to use the area for a mirror and chaise. It could be both beautiful and very functional.
