Please help! This reno has almost become my full-time job because the contractor keeps sending me to Lowe’s, etc. to get materials. I’m so tired I need help figuring this out. 🙏

1. I’m hoping you can see in the photos what I'm referring to. I have many friends with hardwood floors, and all of them are smooth and look "finished”. These brand new white oak floors in our house are SO rough to the touch, I just can't believe they're "finished" as they should be. I specified the stain I wanted (which looks great) and that I wanted two coats of Bona HD Traffic in Satin. Upon further research, apparently the floor also needed two coats of sealer before the finish. Did the contractor not use sealer because I didn't specify? Surely they know floors need to be sealed? (Of course, I didn't, because I'M NOT A CONTRACTOR. 😅) I keep telling them something is wrong, and they keep swearing the floor is finished. Was it not sanded enough? Or was it not sealed? Help!

2. There is also an issue with cupping due to humidity because this whole reno is happening due to a burst pipe, and they didn’t replace the insulation in the crawlspace before putting in these floors... 🙄 Even when I specifically asked about doing that first and humidity levels and keeping the AC on to allow the wood to acclimate to the environment before install, etc. (which they also didn’t because they wanted the paint to dry faster or something 😵‍💫). I’d actually love advice about this, too. They promise it‘s going to go ”back down” once the insulation is finished in the crawlspace. They’ve said if it doesn’t go down, they’ll resand.

3. How does the cupping issue affect the sealer/finish issue? I imagine the cupping and any sanding needed would have to be done before the sealer/finish can be dealt with.
