Hi all, im converting one bay our 2.5 car attached garage into a gym and will add heat and AC. Nothing crazy, just enough to get the garage to 75-80 in the summer and 55-60 in the winter for an hour or two. I’d only turn it on before use and would not maintain temp in the garage. Dimensions are 25x35 with 13’ ceilings. We’re in NJ.

The garage has two fully insulated doors (R13.5) that will get new weather stripping and seals. Walls are R13 and ceiling is R18. I may add additional ceiling insulation as well.

My question is whats the best heat/AC option? i have a Mr Cool mini split in a detached man cave and its awesome but I keep it on all the time. In this case where I just want a want a fast ramp of heat or cool, is that the best fit? Especially the heat? I’m getting 28k BTU in a load calc but realize this is intended for living spaces.
