We are moving into a new house and having a terribly difficult time trying to figure out how to layout the family room. We would like to have a tv and seating for at least six people (either a sectional and a recliner, or two smaller couches). The room is very long and narrow at 25’ x 12’. The problem is the room also has 4 doorways, a fireplace and a large front window. We are trying to avoid blocking natural walkways and also avoid the faux pas of having the tv above the fireplace (neck and eye strain) or in front of the window. We are also trying to avoid having a majority of the seating be facing away from the tv. All of this leaves us with very few possibilities. We are therefore considering walling off the doorway that leads to the foyer (near the front window) or walling off the fireplace in order to get more usable wall space; however those both seem a little too extreme. Any ideas?
