Elderberry help

I've had a busy summer, so decided to pull clusters of elderberries and throw them on a hanging drying rack. Okay, so it's incredibly tedious to pull those dried berries from all the tiny stems. I know that elder stems/branches are toxic, but does anyone know if they're still toxic once cooked?

Here's what I'm thinking....

Pull out as much of the stems as I reasonably can, then cook the dried berries with a few pieces of stem debris. Then strain the juice.

Any thoughts?

(With the newer clusters, I'm pulling the berries while fresh. Much easier)
