Love my new laundry room!
When we bought the house, the laundry area looked decent enough. An open area viewable from the kitchen, the previous owners had carefully place a nice stackable W/D in a corner where it couldn't be seen. They even built a pretty arched opening to the W/D and sink area. I never did like the stackable; I am height disadvantaged. But when it came time to replace the washer and dryer we soon became aware of just how stupid the original design was. Frist, the space was not wide enough to have a sink across from the W/D. My DH had to remove the sink and cabinet to facilitate moving the old machines out. Second, the pretty little arch was shorter than the top of the dryer. After damaging the wall, we had to twist and turn each machine to get them out of there. We decided we had to remodel, and put practicality over aesthetics. We moved the plumbing to an outside wall (it was kind of hard to clean the lint duct that was going to the rooftop), changed the electricity, increased storage, and did the best we could to make the view from the kitchen look OK with the W/D positioned directly across from the opening.
