I think I posted this in the wrong place earlier so i am trying again. Apparently there is nothing structurally wrong/dangerous about the stairs, but why is there a gap and how can I fix it and make it look nice? it does not bend, and nothing is loose. Carpenter said he can do quarter round or some type of trim but i cant picture that looking good due to the area being so uneven. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
