I wouldnt paint them. They look nice just like they are.

IMO if the floors stay so does the color of the cabinets , No gain from painting them a color that does not work with the floors and your counter Save the money BTW the example has wwod floors so no .

Don't paint them. Everything coordinates well now, tonally. Also, they look quite nice.

I can tell that the stain is wearing through in places and understand why something needs to be done with them. A lasting paint job that wears well is quite expensive and might cost you more than new cabinets. A paint job that you either hire painters to do or you do yourself is going to only last a few more years before it starts to chip and look pretty bad too.

Prior to painting, I'd get stain pens and color in all of the chips, dings, and worn areas. Yes, the areas are large and there are many, but it could be more practical, less work, as long lasting, and less expensive than painting the cabinets. (I did extensive stain pen coloring on wood floors throughout my house and it made an incredible difference.)

The current cabinet color is doing a very good job of bridging your counters and floors, which are not a great combination. If you are hell bent on painting and taking a risk with that floor and counter combo, then I would sample colors that are the lightest cream color in your floor, or dry a dark sage.

Have you tried a cleaning/protection product such as the one below? something like that might refresh the look of your cabinets.

Yet another dilemma where the homeowner wants to change the color of the cabinets, when it is the tile floor and the granite and backsplash that are the problems.

I understand if your cabinets are in poor condition that you want to refresh them. However, doing that without addressing the other issues isn't going to end well.

You need a plan and a budget before you do anything. Figure out what you can do with the budget you have, and if you need to defer while you save up, there's nothing wrong with that.

I actually don’t think the current finishes are harmonious, and I agree with Diana that painting the cabinets is not going to fix the problem, because none of those elements (cabinets, floors, counters) goes with the others, and there’s no paint color that will make those counters look good with that floor.

So if you cant fix this, can you make it better? Possibly. But you may not end up with a kitchen you love that way, just one you dislike less. Here’s my thought. The actual color of your floors is not that different from hardwood, it’s just much much busier. Inspiration images vastly underestimate the busy-ness of your counters, but you get the picture.

It’s a strong look, I’m not at all offended if you don’t like it. Whatever you decide to do, you have visible plugmold under your upper cabinets. This should be hidden by a light rail, the installation of which could also allow you to install under cabinet lighting. If you are going to paint, then now’s the time to install it.

I love granite, any kind of granite. So I, too, would keep it; but I would cover the backsplash with something. And I would lay an LVT - or a sheet vinyl or linoleum - over the existing tile floor.

Should you decide to paint your cabinets, I think that black would be nice with your granite countertop. However I would replace the granite backsplash with a plain warm white subway tile and paint the walls also a warm white. Here's the look with your floor tiles:

It's hard to say exactly without seeing the granite in person, but if you're granite has some tones of green then a nice sage green such as this would be able to pull the counter and floor colors together. Add a nice washable rug from some place like Ruggables and it will connect them even more. You have a nice kitchen it just needs a little help to liven it up again. And unless you absolutely hate painting, DIY painting cabinets has never been easier due to the great paint available. Remove the doors and drawers and scuff up the stained finish by a light sanding. Use a good quality primer and then paint with Benjamin Moore Advance paint. Such a beautiful and tough finish with this product.
