Awkward Fireplace Help

What would you do to this fireplace to make it look better. I would also like a mantle. I can't believe the builder just put square tile around it like this. Any suggestions for the living space welcome as I'm looking for a full refresh!. The chair to the right of the fireplace has a short dividing wall that leads into the hallway, not necessarily looking to get rid of it but open to it.

I'd bring the tile or some other material to the top and really make it a feature for the room.

Do you want a mantle to display things? The indent area above fireplace could be used as a narrow mantle if you want to hang Christmas stockings, but if that’s not your purpose lovely art would look great instead of mirror. Agree with Pat the furniture is too large or too much. As I have often suggested, temporarily move everything out that you can, measure and re-imagine. Sometimes because something has been pin a room for a while we look past it and its current aesthetic value.

Some adjustments need to be made to the room beside the FP.

Yes, you could simply tile the FP from floor to the ceiling.

    Your tree is too short

    The TV is too small

What do you mean exactly when you say you're "looking for a full refresh" besides updating the fireplace? Do you want to paint the room? do you want to replace the furniture? If that's the case it would be good to have a floor plan showing all dimensions and your needs for the room.

    Hi there!

Your fireplace has great potential for a stunning transformation! To elevate its look, consider installing a custom mosaic surround. Here are a few ideas:

    1. Mosaic Fireplace Surround: Replacing the square tiles with a beautiful mosaic design can add depth, color, and texture, turning your fireplace into a captivating focal point. You could opt for a classic pattern with neutral tones for a timeless look or choose vibrant colors to make a bold statement.
    2. Mantel Addition: Adding a mantel above the mosaic surround can provide a perfect spot for decor and enhance the overall aesthetic. You can choose a material that complements your mosaic design, such as reclaimed wood or a sleek, modern finish.
    3. Living Space Refresh: To tie everything together, consider coordinating the colors and patterns of your new mosaic fireplace with other elements in the room, like throw pillows, rugs, or artwork.

Our custom mosaics are handcrafted and can be tailored to fit your style and vision. Feel free to check out our profile for some inspiration.

Best of luck with your living space refresh!

It doesn't look like you have enough room to do a mantle. However, you could look at tiling the whole fireplace area with the same tile down around it. Below are a few fireplace designs we have done and living/family rooms that we have designed. Perhaps looking at these will allow you to figure out what other updates you might want in your room.
