We need to see the rest of the room to know what will work well. What do you need to store in this area and would open or closed shelves serve it best? Do you need storage, do you have objects to display, do you enjoy dusting? Do you have artwork you'd like to hang - you could do base cabinets with artwork above and a picture light. It all depends on your needs more so than looks alone.

It seems that your options should be based on what you need. Do you have beautiful dishes to display in a hutch? How about a chest to hold games , or crafting orojects, a bookshelf, etc. Personaly the one thing that i would NOT use it for is a BAR. Booze on display makes no sense to me.

I was thinking actually a dry bar with shelves lighting and cabinets for all my glassware…I thought about Quarz countertop and taking the all the way up to the wall. I do not want a built-in to hold more decor. I do want it to be functional and useful.

I would do a built-in, but one that does not detract from the focal point of the fireplace. It can be functional, but understated.

Picture head on of the entire wall the fireplace is on please. What's on the left side of the fireplace? The formality of what I see makes me think bookshelves.

What functions do you need to accommodate in that space? That would be the first question I would ask myself.

Do you entertain a lot, have you purchased or inherited a lot of things that you need to store and display?

If not, I'd forego the builtins and put a large plant in a lovely pot in the spot. Maybe add a floor lamp by the chair.

Having space for things encourages the purchasing of things (often unneeded) to fill up the space.

Id vote for the plant

This room is open to the dinning room …no tv in that room ..we have a family room for that!
This room is more for entertainment and hanging out with friends …

So what you were really asking is how can I make a dry bar that's more Intune with my space. THAT is easy to do. I would not have open storage above. An old large china cabinet could work if you painted it out but the open 'shelving' is a NO.

If you like to entertain and need some storage to house your bar accessories then you might consider doing built-ins. Depending on what's on the left-facing side of the fireplace, just make

sure that the space is visually balanced.

Finally done! We are happy with the result. Great storage…we could not do a fridge since we didn’t have the depth. But I’m still happy the way it turned out.
