What are you asking? How to fix it? There is no fix and the damage is done. Or what to replace it with?

Virginia Mist granite , honed, Soapstone.... a quartz. That said?

I have absolutely no CLUE on your counter top why that much silicone was necessary....and BOTH sides of the slab should have been sealed if it was known the slab was porous.

It really looks sharp around your fireplace. Can you contact the yard where you bought it from to find out how it should have been handled. Should it have been sealed?

You must be very disappointed. My fear is that this a product or stone hat has been stained to look gray. Where is the slab from? There have been some inferior stones stained to look black or gray but later this happens. I also wonder why they were using silicone or is it a sealer of sorts? Is it possible they oiled this thinking it was soapstone?

Anyway to resolve it?

Yes, replace it with a stone that has a good history. I had virginia mist and loved it.. But, soapstone could work nicely for you too. And soapstone has that super power quality of never staining.

Got this from Arizona tile. It appears fabricator used wrong adhesive. This is a more porous granite. We’re told he should have used a certain type of adhesive and sealed 3 to 4 times. He says he used proper adhesive but only sealed once since spots came out. He sealed a few weeks after all was in place. One azt location said because it’s so porous it should be sealed prior to placing it. Another said seal 3-4 times after install. Bottom line is all are going to replace and install but want me to pick a different granite. Azt does not have soapstone. I’m just wondering if I got the same product what is the proper way to fabricate seal and install so I don’t have the same or other issues. Or should I call it a day and just get something less porous. And should I stick with polished or still go with a satin or honed or leathered. Have grandchildren and other family that spills everything everywhere. Don’t want to be obsessed about spots etc.

To be clear, the sealer goes on the BACK of the material to prevent the adhesive from migrating.

Porous granite? I thought that was an oxymoron?

I was just at AZ tile and was interested in the carbon gray granite. What was the resolution?
