I know that sometimes wood ceilings can add difficulty for ceiling lights. If this is the case, I would suggest wire lighting that can run the entire length of the ceiling. The type of lights on the wire can be changed to your preference. Here's an example:

The question should be......."How do I light the ROOM?"

You need layers of lighting, to include the ceiling, the mid level of portable lighting - LAMP LIGHT....

You will need the third level, accent, such as wall washers or sconces. picture lights etc

Lighting is "ambient" ( overall , recessed example ) ) , task (read, knit etc, a lamp or standing lamp ) , accent ( just what it says ) Layers....!

All of this should take into account a furniture plan and how you will arrange and the activities within the space.

You are missing all this information, including dimensions of the room.

You need a lighting plan and possibly a lighting designer along with the electrician. It's dim as a tomb: )

Have you recently moved in? It looks like there used to be floor lamps in the dark area under the loft (or whatever it is). Was there track lighting as well?

Exposed candelabra bulbs like you have in the current chandeliers are for atmosphere, not general illumination. I agree that the room requires layers of lighting, floor lamps, table lamps, the wall sconces, and maybe picture lights.

However, if you decide to change the chandeliers, a fixture that has a shade allows you to use a bulb that has a greater amount of lumens (it's brighter) and the shade protects you from the glare those increased lumens will create.

Sconces, lamps, a flush mount chandelier, etc. There are many different ways to light that specific space.

Cable lighting is the answer and IMO all LED 4000K bulbs too and yes you need table lamps , floor lamps too . I think more is better in a space that eats light . with all that wood. Waht yu have is really completely useless for actual lighting I would avoid all lighting that lights the ceiling and chosse even ceiling lights to shine down into the actual living space .
