IMO if this is the only place for this type trim then a firm no to the idea. I see alot going on in that entry that has a Spanish feel this trim can always be added later and I think it needs to connect to the rest of the homes interior design

Establish a line for the wainscoting like you see below and extend it around the foyer and staircase.

Agree with Patricia^^. The space doesn't need panels. It needs some bold artwork. If you gotta' add something, then trim out the doors.

@BeverlyFLADeziner - thank you! In that last photo, does the wainscoting just die into the stair skirt? That is a similar situation that we face - where the natural line that would extend around will die about two steps before the top of the staircase, so I'm trying to figure out how to accomodate for that. These photos were helpful - thank you!

Others - obviously this is a work in progress, no art on the walls yet b/c we're mid project, and the railing/chandelier fixture are being replaced. There was a very heavy stone facade accent wall which we wanted removed, so as we took the stone down we wanted to add some detail back in. Thanks for any additional insight!
