Dining room light question

My dining table was centered in our dining room thats right off the kitchen. I’m toying with the idea of flipping our table like in the picture - adding a bench seat around the table below the windows and cabinets on the opposite wall for storage/coffee bar. But I dont know what to do about the light! I love this fixture but it looks odd as is. Should I get a new light and swag it over the table? or maybe like a large round, opaque globe and leave it centered in the room?

I need a to scale plan of the space to start . I hate bench seating where adults actually use the space , it barely works at a park. It seems that the table was actually rurned to line up with the light which I think would have been a nice look . I rarely would use a coffee bar in a DR but a nice shallow buffet is a nice look . I need the paln on graph paer show with an x where the light box is now and all measurements and where the kitchen is in relation to this space .Post here in jpeg format in a comment do not start another post.

"adding a bench seat around the table below the windows"

Why? Sitting on a bench with no back support is so uncomfortable. Why wouldn't you just buy more chairs? According to my design book, 44" is required between the table edge and wall for someone to be able to walk behind a seated person, and 36" is required between the table edge and wall for someone to be able to edge behind a seated person.

a little more info would help. Is your plan to use it as a play room too?

it's a beautiful space, lots of potential, but some clarity needed for sure. How many to accomodate for dining? children? do you currently use the bench for family seating?

I see the bar cart... do you need a coffee area in that corner why not closer to the kitchen

where you have a water source? Does this open to the kitchen???

Love the help so far friends.

Heres a 3D plan of the space, the light box is centered in the room and I’m not relocating it.

Here’s some better pictures as well. It is right off our kitchen so the coffee machine on the bar cart has worked well.

yes, i have two toddlers and no playroom. I will put some coloring/crafts and puzzles in the storage along the blank wall. There’s just 4 of us now but we do host friends and famiy and our 4 chairs + bench are sufficient so its not for need to create more seating but just experimenting.

The table is 86” with matching bench and i would keep those too. My thought on a window bench is that it could be cozy. Making it an L shaped so people could slide in around either side.

my sense with living with it is that it makes the room more useful and larger. i just dont know what to do with the light.

Maybe save your lovely chandelier and reuse when the dining set can be moved back. A semi-flush might look better in the meantime, as swagging a new light that far won’t look great. Wireless sconces on the two middle panels might be a good way to add ambiance at dinner and put all lighting on a dimmer.

We might suggest turning the chandelier to be parallel with the table, then center the table under the chandelier.
