help with sofa and fabric selection

last year

We are looking to replace our old sectional with a set of sofas and can’t visualize the pattern recommended by the furniture store (sofas etc). Pic of current sectional and proposed striped fabric and blue pillows. I couldn’t find any tools on the sofa site to see the fabric, hoping someone with better taste than mine will know if this would work or if there are better colors to use. Thanks.

Too little info . Are you keeping the rug ? Waht style are the sofas? I rarely like patterened sofas thay drive too much of the rest of the decor. I actually love leather simple good quality and then if you want a bit of patteren you can have a nice rug some plillows all which cna be changed easily nad even if fabric no pattern maybe texture but not a print .So maybe the textured one in the middle bit for sure not the blue one ever. I have never liked the other choice either . Show us the whole room and the sofa style please

The blues are pretty, but they don't match your rug. A sofa and two armchairs is pretty classic and they will seat as many people as your sectional. You'll have more room on the right.

A pair of couches usually face each other, but that would not really fit your layout. If you need more seating that a couch and two armchairs will provide on a daily basis, with just your family, then it won't work for you. But if you just need more seating on an occasional basis, I'd replace the chairs that I presume are at the head and foot of your dining room or kitchen table with comfortable ones that coordinate, so they can do double duty. Otherwise, consider some chairs easy to carry in other rooms.

If you go with this fabric then you have to replace your existing rug.

Appreciate the comments, adding more detail- the rug needs to be replaced, likely with something blue. Initially we plan on having two sofas facing each other and eventually possibly having one face the tv and adding two chairs at the end. There are 5 of us and sofas occasionally used for napping or kid sleepovers. The sofa we are looking at is the cr lane Eastport, pictured is the sectional version.

I would use blue in the rug and accessories and select a neutral sofa for your room. BTW you start your room by selecting the rug and then go from there.

We plan on replacing the coffee table as well. The room is roughly 15x23 and open to the kitchen which has island cabinets in navy blue. Here is a picture that may better capture the room. Mostly looking for a relaxed coastal vibe, and appreciate the comments on concern with the businesses of the white/blue lined pattern.

We took the risk and got the patterned fabric and used the advice above to replace the carpet and mirror, will still need to replace the chairs and paint or replace the ottoman. Would barrel swivel chairs in blue or white work here?

I think barrel swivel chairs would work great in this space! I have one and love it. I would consider maybe leather? I LOVE leather, but to each their own. Either way, I would grab the blue out of those pillows and make my chairs that color, without hesitation, to put in place of those two blue chairs you have. Pottery Barn has some with nailheads. Ashley has them in fabric. It depends on your budget.
