I think it looks beautiful when done right. To each their own! It does seem a bit ubiquitous these days.

My bathroom above was done 2 years ago, but I also used brushed gold in a bathroom I remodeled in my previous house 12 years ago, so these finish options have been around for many years.

@chispa looks great! Your flooring and tub are similar to ours. Love your chandelier! My concern is mainly resale which is probably several years down the line but I guess it's easy enough to switch out if someone wanted to.

@meghankl, did you ever not buy a house because it had bathroom fixtures in a color you didn't love? Probably not. Look at some recent posts were people have bought houses with older/dated kitchens that they hate, but they still bought the house. If people only bought perfect houses there would be no market for remodeling!

Life is too short to design for some future mythical buyer ... do it for yourself to enjoy while you are living there now.

What jewelry accessories do you favor? If you tend toward silver, the gold seem uncomfortable to you.

So agree with @chispa - i think trying to keep a “mythical future buyer” in mind contributes to the overhwhelm that people can feel when making design decisions

Get what you love. New owners can also get what they love if they don't love what you have selected. I really like your inspiration pic.

Never follow trends or what’s in or out. Do what suits your home style and your taste

I totally agree with the choice you make in metals for your jewellery I do not like warm colors for much so to me chrome or nickel always my choice .

The jewelry analogy is interesting ... my watch has a gold & stainless band, diamond bezel and mother of pearl face. On the other arm I have bracelets that have gold, silver and diamonds, so I guess I like both silver and gold and don't have a problem mixing and matching! I get compliments all the time on my mix of gold and silver bracelets.

You can also mix metal finishes.

I think unlacquered brass is a similar look that's more timeless. Or polished nickel if you want to go silvery. Or you could do polished nickel for faucets and gold/brass for hardware since hardware is easier to swap out down the road. Your inspo pic is very pretty!

I think it will stay around. Right now, it is everywhere and in everyone's face along with light wood and warm white cabinets. I feel like that was the pendulum swinging from the all white kitchens with brushed nickel or the gray cabinets. The pendulum moves back and forth. Soon we will be back to cool colors again once the warm tones have wore out their welcome.

I encourage my customers to get away from what they see online and look at what is in front of them - what are they drawn to, what might they have always wanted and then we build from there and look for pictures to support their desires. And if that is a white kitchen or black counters or blue walls, then so be it.

I wear silver jewelry and like the warmer metals- guess I'm quirky like that.

I combined matte gold cabinet pulls and sconces with polished nickel faucets, shower fixtures and towel racks over 10 years ago when we did a master bath reno. Both metals share a nice warmth and look great together. I used the gold as more of an accent. We still love it.

Unlaquered brass is actually trumping brushed gold currently. We always recommend doing more permanenet items in a classic finish. Easily changeable items in the accent or trend.

In your case that would be polished nickel for plumbing fixtures and the gold of your choice for things like cabinet hardware and mirror. Lighting you can go either direction depending on the cost of said lighting. If you have a large lighting budget then go timless with the polished nickel. If not investing a lot in lighting then you can use the accent color.

Notice I did not say chrome. Chrome is a cool metal and when mixing with golds , clashes. Polished nickel has a warm undertone and works with golds.

I’m remodeling a bathroom and looking at the same color wood. i see in the picture the floor tile has gray running through it even though brushed gold hardware - im finding the floor tile very difficult.
