Need ideas for venting dryer—

Moving to new house and the laundry room has sink cabinet on same wall washer and dryer go—If I had thought about it I would not have added that to give more room for w/d location but it is done.
I need the best, most direct way to hook LG electric dryer up to the vent box the builder installed—
I didn’t know they were doing vent box. This is an interior wall and vents through attic (one level) to roof. Construction foreman didn’t ask where my dryer’s vent hole was placed when they were blocking in the venting and it was done b4 we saw it.
An LG has a vent hole in center of back—not sure about other models. (Builder offers GE w/d and fridges to buyers).
To make it more difficult there is HVAC closet across from w/d with door that swings out/into the laundry space.
A barn door would have been a good option for them to install but they didn’t.

Has anyone used a magna-vent with magnetic connections? I know how important good venting is to dryer operation. Ours now is beside an exterior wall and run from vent is very short to side of house—not up through attic…
And fairly easy to vacuum out.

Not going to be case with this location.

I agree with what luna said. Our laundry room is in the front of our house and would have been easy to vent the dryer to the front with the vent being hidden by landscaping. But it is vented to the roof. I frequently go up to the attic because that is where our HVAC system is located (common here in Texas due to few homes have basements) so I can check on the HVAC. Many times I happen to go up there when the dryer is running and I can smell the exhaust (the scent of the detergent/dryer sheet). I have the dryer vent cleaned regularly by a local guy who specializes in dryer vent cleaning, and he also cleans out the dryer itself. Still, I am always uncomfortable with the vent going up to the roof with such a long metal duct pipe from where the LR is to where the vent exits on the roof. I would never leave the house with the dryer on.

Ours has flex duct to the wall and then smooth metal ducting to the outside. We use a rotary dryer vent cleaner to clean our dryer ducting. Ours goes up and then sideways out of the house but could be used for ducting that goes up through an attic. The kit we use goes up to 12 feet but there is also an extension kit. We actually have a similar type rotary cleaner for our wood stove which vents straight up through the roof.

You did not describe the location of the vent box or where it is (too high? too low? to the left? to the right?) in relation to the vent connection on the rear of the dryer. A photo of the laundry room with dimensions and model number of the appliance would help.

I would never vent a dryer to the roof. It is basically a chimney. If you ever have a fire it will race throuh multiple floors. There will also be a stack effect loss of conditioned air even when the dryer is off.

If it gets cold in the winter there is the potential for condenstion to form and run down the inside of the vent pipe. This can cause mold tp grow on the lint in the vent.

Can you switch to a ventless heat pump dryer?

Best to vent out the wall and we have no idea exactly where this space is even in the house . I have dealt with dryer vents going up and through an attic with some pretty bad issues The shortest distance for venting is best and as direct as possible .I aslo never run my dryer when not home only because why take a chance .

Builders and architects have gone wonky-in-the-head with dryer exhaust routes, not placing the machines on an exterior wall. Mine fortunately is on an exterior wall such that I can reach through the outdoor hood and touch the dryer's blower wheel which is directly at the machine's rear exhaust port. The only glitch here is the wall port was placed too close to a corner. I can't shove the dryer through/into the side wall so I have to set it at an angle to avoid obstructing the very short connection duct.

Yes, this is an obstruction that will affect the performance.
