I'm not seeing a different outcome over time if you refinish. Rugs in the same place seems easy. Replacing the floor with the current favored European Oak engineered is the more expensive option.

Leaving the whole floor exposed will allow it to fade somewhat but there's no guarantee it will ever match without resanding. You could resand and bleach the wood, then finish with a non-yellowing finish. There's plenty of posts here on the subject if you search "bleach brazilian cherry"

Can you share where you learned that?

First invest in some solar shades for windows to control UV and heat and when redoing the floors once sanded and stained they will look the same everywhere and with proper control of the shades less fading of the wood and all your furnishings over time

We filmed our windows so it protected our Brazilian cherry floors, after we refinished with a matte coating. They darkened somewhat but stayed more of a chocolate brown, were beautiful and very similar to yours. Ours were 3/4 inch nail down. I thought when we sold our house they would be a negative, but people loved them!
