Advice on windows

last modified: 2 years ago

I am getting new double-hung windows to replace the old casements in our 1940s colonial we are gut renovating. One window that will go in the front of the home is 48x63, and then there will be 3 windows in a row along the side of the house that are slightly smaller (like 40x60 each) where the row of casements are now.

The factory default is an 8-lite grid pattern, but i also have the option of 6-lite. The house has a mix of those same grid patterns (see exterior photo) , and while I think the larger front window would look best with 8 grids, I worry it will be too busy for the wall of 3 windows side by side. I also have a french door in the same space leading to a screened porch which has only one vertical grid line in each door.

Which option would you choose? Including photos of the room from various views and during various stages of renovation
