Help Update Exterior with New Siding!

What siding & which color would you recommend to update this style house? I am open to all ideas! Any way to bring less attention to the angled 70s style?

Your money will go further working with the style of the house versus against it. No amount of siding will conceal the fact that it is a 1980’s shed style house. Stop fighting it. New contemporary front doors, new large modern lights. Remove the grids in the sunroom (yikes). Paint the trim white since you have white vinyl windows. A light neutral on the siding like a medium grey.

Like Hallett said, it would be better if it were 100% shed style. The windows and arch on the first floor are working against it. If you were going to replace the windows as well as doing new siding, turn the windows with two under to one large window without muntins and get rid of the arch. If that's a bay window on the left that should be squared off. The roofline is what is dictating the style, so you can't change that with siding.

I love the house, but, am not fond of the color. I do agree, the sunroom, window grids should be removed. I hope they are the removable type. I would like to see it painted a cream color. It does look to have been stained now, so maybe a solid color stain should be used instead of paint. I agree with the others, keep it just the style it is, just refresh the color. You could also pick a color from the stone on the sun room. Its hard to tell in the picture, just what color that stone is. The bushes on the left side covering the windows, should be all trimmed down and cleaned up. I think the doors look ok, just repainted another color.

Just adding siding, no matter the color, will not change house very much and you may be disappointed especially after spending a lot of money. I really think the expanse (vs the angles) is the issue and suggest using different materials, if budget allows. Again, based on budget, a new door and windows (even down the road) would have even more of an impact. The right choices will also increase the value of your home more significantly.

Maybe spend some time on line looking at updated 1970’s house exteriors for ideas. Your home has so much potential! Good luck.

Staining it a darker color could go along way to helping minimize some of the random details. Change the entry doors, get rid of all grids. If you decide to replace any windows at some time that will only help the situation.
