Either side of the fireplace depending on furniture placement. Have the fireplace be the "star" and not the TV.

Will you use a fireplace regularly? Really want one for decorating at Christmas? Live in a cold climate and want it for the ambiance?

If not, don’t put one in. It’s your house, after all.

@Max Liberman - I’m standing in entry hall looking into great room. Kitchen & dining to left through arch. Hallways on both left & right just past entry foyer to bedrooms on both sides. Floorplan FP would’ve been straight ahead where cabinet is. We could’ve put TV & console there but didn’t want TV to be first thing seen upon coming through front door. The placement of TV allows viewing from kitchen area & island seating.

Are you sure you want all your windows to be fixed in this room? Sometimes it is nice to open windows to catch a cool breeze or air out a room.

We skipped the fireplace when we built in 2021, but we are in FL, so we would never have used it.

So very many living room posts here are completely flummoxed by decorating their rooms with the fireplace- TV conundrum. As well as, rooms also otherwise poorly designed, “ dimensioned”, doors/ windows located, for good furniture arrangements.

I hear the advice about making FP the focal point, but that only works if you have good “ dual focal point” walls & seating. It’s often not possible. So then the design is” for show” and the real room- use is poorly planned.

I kept the windows fixed because I have a huge slider on the other side for fresh air. I have awesome view from this room so don’t want stuff in the middle to block it.

Your plan does not show a huge slider in this room?

You’ve probably searched previous posts on “ where to put the TV” ( almost all of these have fireplaces in prominent place in room) and “ where do I put my sectional “ and “ how do I arrange furniture with all these windows”( though windows are great) and similar topics, but they are instructive, if only for lots of photos that might either inspire or depress you.
