Are they squashy ? If not they're not really ripe. And what size are the fruit?

Anil perhaps taking a picture of plant along with showing its leaves someone may have the same . It is hard to say judging off that 1 fig .

Hopefully someone has same and will post here or mentions a name that may ring a bell since tag is no longer readable.

It looks like my Brunswick Fig, but you will find that the leaves are easy to decipher the type of your tree. Pick a leaf and check with varieties listed on Google.

I'm not sure that leaf shape is a very good identification characteristic for edible figs :-) There are several hundred cultivars of Ficus carica and many have leaves that are virtually indistinguishable from each other as well as ofttimes varying on the same tree! At best, Google may offer up a couple dozen images of distinctive leaf shapes but that's only a drop in the bucket and a good portion of those varieties have climatic restrictions or are not commonly grown in the US.

Most states have a hobby orchardist's association or rare fruit society or similar organization that could assist with ID or direct you to someone who can. Start there.

Wow, several hundred cultivars, thanks for that, you can learn something new every day. I was in the same boat, so identified my fig via Google, then matched up the leaves, and came to my conclusion it was a Brunswick. Of course if I am wrong the world will not end, but thanks for your response, most appreciated.

I agree. Figs are really only identifiable by their fruit and by a knowledgeable person. The leaves are highly variable as GG says.
